If you are new to Calligraphy below is a list of suggested supplies for a basic Calligraphy kit
An A3 bond layout pad or bleed proof pad
Broad-edged / chisel nibs eg. William Mitchell, Brause, Speedball C series (and holders for the nibs)
Pilot parallel pen

A bottle of non-waterproof ink eg Pelikan 4001, Sumi Calligraphy ink, Walnut ink
Gouache or watercolour paint
A pencil - the propelling types are best, an eraser and a ruler

A medium size glass jar for water for washing brushes, nibs etc
Paint palette
Mixing brushes

Some rags or paper towel
An old toothbrush - for cleaning nibs .
A notebook
A slant or writing board is optional

If you are just beginning, don’t rush out and buy everything all at once.  Start with some reasonable quality paper, ink, a couple of nibs, a penholder or try the pilot parallel pen which is easy to use and available from most art and stationary shops or online

Please Note: boards and blocks are available for use at Primrose Park - the usual site of ASC workshops
