Irish Insular or Half Uncials were first used in Christian Ireland in the 6th century and spread to Anglo Saxon Northern Britain. The script evolved from the miniscule Roman Half Uncial to a more formalized Irish Majuscule.
In this online workshop we will study the characteristics of the script, the stretching and linking of letters through ligatures and some of the Celtic decoration that accompanied this hand.
Students will receive instructional videos and a PDF file complete with handouts, exemplars and worksheets.
Students will be working in class time and their work will be marked up and shared by the tutor each week.
Date: Sundays 7th, 14th and 21st February 2021 from 3pm - 5pm via Zoom.
